Mercedes-Benz is planning to preview its next-generation compact car with the unveiling of the a Sedan concept at the special event of the 2017 Shanghai auto show. This novel concept exhibited a more traditional notch-back design as compared to the coupe-like shape of the CLA.
This is the first-ever A-Class sedan that is being included in the next generation compact car range by Mercedes-Benz. The A-Class sedan will include various exciting features. It will ride on the MFA2 front-wheel-drive platform. Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is employed to generate power and a high-performance AMG variant with 400 horsepower on tap is expected in the compact model. Most of the cars in the US will be sourced from a plant established in Mexico. As told by Mercedes, high quality and unique design interior will add to the elegant look of compact version. The dual screen display will make it the high-end model of Mercedes.
While attending an interview with Automotive News, Britta Seeger – Mercedes sales chief, told about the launch of the new model. He said that A-Class sedan will go on sale next fall in United States.
The first compact by Mercedes will be an A-Class hatchback. It will be available for sale in Europe in the spring season next year and further replacements will be made for the current B-Class, GLA, CLA and CLA Shooting Brake. Other than A-Class Sedan, two more models will be added.
CLA is the current entry model in U.S. by Mercedes with a price of $30,000. It is expected that A-Class Sedan will lie below $30,000. It is just an estimation because when asked from the Mercedes Sales Chief Seeger, he said that they will see. In the initial stage, CLA’s price was also below $30,000, when it was first launched in the market.
